Summary:
Reader, film lover, wannabe filmmaker. I've been on the internet since 1987, when IRC was called "Relay" and I worked on a VAX in the computer lab and had a spanking new Mac SE (with no hard drive, just 2 3.5" drives) in my dorm room. (Yes, that means I'm thirtysomething -- ancient in internet demographic terms.)
I'm an ENTP, and HSP.
Religion:
I'm a true agnostic (not an atheist!). I use a modified version of Wikipedia's definition:
However, my husband is devoutly religious, and I have no issue with any religion/spirituality/belief system as long as it doesn't impose itself on non-believers. I also don't much like atheists who seem to enjoy persecuting those who do subscribe to some kind of religious/spiritual belief system. (See basis for my politics, below.)
I tend toward Buddhism, as a philosophical grounding. I keep going back, but I'm not committed to that path just yet.
Politics:
My politics are libertarian. If you don't know what that is, here's a very brief summary:
That's from Wikipedia's article on Libertarianism, here.
You'll find that I have contempt for pretty much all government and most politicians. In my cynical view, both parties are full of self-gratifying idiots, and despite what many people believe, I think there's not much difference between the two. They're both out to screw Joe Sixpack; they just use different rationales, while they take money from their cronies and ride in their limos, out of harm's way and distant from reality.
I don't generally post rants on politics, although I do sometimes post political links. When it comes to politics (and religion, for that matter), people seem generally to enjoy patting each other on the back, congratulating each other on how enlightened they are. But feel free to ask me something, if you like. I'm always interested in the opportunity, however rare, to have a real discussion about politics.
LJ "Friends":
If I "friend" you (I hate that terminology) it just means you seem like someone interesting to read - please don't feel obligated to re-"friend" me in return. Same general principles apply to un-"friend"ing. This isn't meatspace, and my feelings won't be hurt, nor do I intend to hurt yours. The same goes for "friend"ing me - don't ask, just do, if you want.

I'm a true agnostic (not an atheist!). I use a modified version of Wikipedia's definition:
Agnosticism is the philosophical view that theological claims regarding the existence of God, gods, or deities, are unknown and inherently unknowable.

My politics are libertarian. If you don't know what that is, here's a very brief summary:
Libertarianism is a political philosophy that holds that all individuals should have the liberty to do as they wish with themselves and their property as long as those actions do not infringe on the same liberty of others. As libertarianism is an advocacy of negative liberty, it is asserted that no person (or government) may initiate coercion. Libertarians make "coercion" specific by defining it as the use of physical force, the threat of such, or deception (fraud) that alters, or is intended to alter, the way individuals' would use their property (including their body) if those elements were not present.
